Montgomery Bell State Park, Burns Tennessee

Montgomery Bell State Park, Burns Tennessee

We spent four relaxing days at this beautiful park just west of Nashville.  Our site was on Four Mile Creek which was very pretty.  See our site and the creek.  Check out the link below to a short video of the creek. We arrived on Monday afternoon and the Giants were playing Monday night football.  Unfortunately there were too many trees to get satellite reception so we had to go to a nearby Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the game….

I’ve Got the Memphis Blues

I’ve Got the Memphis Blues

I must say that we had a wonderful time in Memphis!  Even though we stayed at a very no frills campground (Graceland RV Park where they line you up like sardines) it was a great place to visit.  We knew that the campground would not be the greatest but proximity to Graceland was key and we were able to walk over for our tour.  One additional benefit is that you get to know your neighbors.  The group beside us was…

Hot Springs National Park

Hot Springs National Park

Hot Springs National Park is different from the other National Parks we have gone to because there is no formal entrance to the park.  Part of the town of Hot Springs is in the National Park and part is not. Since it was afternoon and pretty hot, instead of walking around we decided to take the Hot Springs Mountain Drive.  We got to the 216′ Mountain Tower (see picture below) and climbed to the top. Well OK, we actually took…

Hot Time in Hot Springs

Hot Time in Hot Springs

We traveled to Hot Springs, Arkansas mainly to visit the National Park (and because neither of us had ever been to Arkansas).  We pulled into Catherine’s Landing RV Resort and into our beautiful spot on the  Lake.  It was a large concrete slab with a huge green lawn leading down to the water.  We had a picnic table on the slab as well as one down by the water.  The bathhouse was beautiful, new and clean.  Here is a picture…

One Night in Mississippi

One Night in Mississippi

On our way from New Orleans to Hot Springs we spent one night at Roosevelt State Park in Morton, Mississippi.  It rained most of the day driving there and was still raining and chilly when we arrived.  We got a bit lost and missed the Park entrance and took a long loop around to get back there.  It’s not easy to turn the RV + car around on a narrow road!  We were a bit frazzled when we got to…

Here We Are in NOLA

Here We Are in NOLA

We made it to Pontchartrain Landing in New Orleans, LA on September 9 for a 3-day stay. Linda followed us here because hurricane Irma was heading straight for Tampa so she couldn’t go home as planned.  We were tracking the the hurricane closely with lots of family and friends in the path.  Sue and Dave Jones were unable to get out of Ft. Lauderdale to join us due to the storm but it would have been a bit crowded with…

Five Days in Destin FL

Five Days in Destin FL

We arrived at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, FL on Monday, September 4th.  What a beautiful park this is! We have a huge drive through, circular spot (#50) and are about a 10 minute walk from a fabulous beach with sugar white sand and clear blue water.  Linda (my sister) arrived from Tampa on Monday to join us for our 5-day stay.  Here is our site and a picture at the beach. On September 5 we heard the great…

Our Journey Begins

Our Journey Begins

We got the RV out of storage in St. Augustine on Aug 30th spent two nights nearby getting it ready for the big trip.  After two months in storage the RV was in perfect shape other than the hot water heater wasn’t working, ugh!  Richard has tried everything but still no hot water.  We will need to have this looked at ASAP.  I REALLY don’t like cold showers.  During the day we took the bikes up to Jacksonville Beach and…
