January 17-19,2018 We left Austin behind but only traveled about 40 miles southeast to Bastrop State Park. The park, which was opened in 1936, is recovering from resent wildfires and flooding. In 2011 96% of the park burned and in 2015 a nearby dam failed and the the park was flooded. We could see one bridge that was completely washed out. January 13-16, 2018 What??? We didn’t sign up for this! We actually had to extend our stay in Austin by one day because of a Winter storm, freezing temps and snow/sleet. Yuck! December 23, 2017-January 9, 2018 My nephew, Tyler, and his wife, Kristen, invited us to “camp” in their driveway for the holidays and even put in 50 amp service and sewer access for us!
