Mesa Verde National Park-Cortez, Colorado May 2019

Mesa Verde National Park is home to a unique collection of over 600 well preserved, multi-storied cliff dwellings, dating from A.D. 550 to 1300. There are also remains of mesa-top pit houses once occupied by ancestral Puebloans. In 1888 two cowboys discovered the walls and towers of a large cliff dwelling across the canyon. They named it Cliff Palace. It turned out that these ruins had been uninhabited for roughly 600 years, after the cliff dwellers mysteriously left in 1300….

Cortez, Colorado – May 2019

May 25-27, 2019 Driving from Alamosa to Cortez, Colorado we were surprised to see a lot of snow as we climbed to over 10,000 feet. Fortunately we got to the other side of the mountain and out of the snow! Here is some of the beautiful scenery we saw along the road. Great Sand Dunes National Park, Alamosa Colorado

Great Sand Dunes National Park, Alamosa Colorado

Once you get…

Alamosa, Colorado – May 2019

May 23-24, 2019 We made it to the Base Camp Ranch Family Campground in Alamosa, Colorado after driving through three hours of high winds from Santa Fe. It’s a good thing that Richard is such a great driver! Once we set up camp we couldn’t even put out the slides on one side because the wind was so loud it sounded like a freight train was coming through. The campground is surrounded by beautiful snow-capped mountains but offers no protection…

We originally planned to drive through St. Louis and Topeka, Kansas but since our launch date got delayed due to my unexpected trip to Hawaii, and there was some flooding in St. Louis, we decided to take a more southerly route. We…

Six Weeks in Nashville Spring 2019

April 4-May 17, 2019 We arrived in Nashville on April 4, when our new granddaughter Aero was only one week old. She came a week early and so fast that Rick ended up delivering his daughter himself in the master bathroom! The midwife arrived shortly thereafter and took over but it was pretty exciting for a while there and Maggie did a great job! Aero is beautiful. Aero’s first bath was special. Maggie was in charge with helpers, Kelly and…
