Olympic National Park

Olympic National Park

May 2018

The Olympic National Park is very diverse with coastal views, rain forests, mountains and glaciers. With nearly one million acres we could only hope to see a fraction of its beauty during our four days on the peninsula.

On our first visit to the Park we went to the Hoh Rain forrest and took a hike on the Spruce Trail. This was not your typical humid, steamy rain forest but a cool, lush area with lots of moss and massive trees.

On the way out we spotted two Roosevelt elk right by the side of the road, an unexpected treat.

On our next visit we drove 35 miles into the park to Hurricane Ridge. At 5,200 feet you really feel like you are at the top of the world with views of Mount Olympus, glaciers and the wilderness below. The clouds were rolling through while we were up there so the view was constantly changing and very beautiful.

On our way out we spotted this black-tailed deer right next to the road. Wasn’t expecting that!

While we only got a peak into the Park it was well worth it and there is certainly lots more to see and do next time!
