Eastern Maine: Columbia Falls and Lubec

Eastern Maine: Columbia Falls and Lubec

July 21-26, 2020, We left Desert Island and headed east on Highway 1, arriving at our next campground in Columbia Falls by early afternoon. We camped at a small park called Cottonwood, owned by the very friendly Shirley Cotten. It’s a haven for ATVers with access to the 87-mile, multi-use Down East Sunrise Trail. The next day we trailered our bikes to the Columbia Falls Crossing for the Sunrise Trail. We were hoping it would be smooth enough for our…

Acadia National Park

Acadia National Park

July 2020 Acadia National Park is located on Mount Desert Island in coastal Maine, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. In 1917 John D. On a previous trip to Bangor (when our grandson Finn was born last July) we checked out the area and found a good campground just 10 minutes from Jade & Brendan’s house called the Holden Family Campground so that is where we stayed. They have a heated pool which you’ll be seeing later since Finn loves…

On the Road to Maine: Ohio, New York, Massachusetts

On the Road to Maine: Ohio, New York, Massachusetts

June 19-30, 2020 After leaving the Indiana Dunes area we headed to Sandusky, Ohio for a few days at the KOA on Lake Erie. Richard’s sister, Roxann, lives only about an hour from there so she drove up for a visit. We laughed a lot, ate some good food and took a few spins around the campground with Phoebe, her dog. It was a fun time to catch up. Richard is happy because they are finally playing golf on TV…
