Final Posting for Whitehouse on Wheels

Final Posting for Whitehouse on Wheels

After 6+ years on the road we are winding down and getting ready to sell the RV. It has been a marvelous adventure and we have loved every minute of it! We have camped in every state, except Hawaii, and in all 10 provinces in Canada plus one of the three territories. We have also visited 53 of the 63 US National Parks. The remaining 10 are remote and not accessible by land but I would love to visit them…

Last Week in the Maritimes-New Brunswick

Last Week in the Maritimes-New Brunswick

July 25-August 4, 2023 Thankfully we made the trip from Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia into New Brunswick without incident. Apparently the flooding over the highway had subsided and the road we were on had reopened. Hallelujah! We did have a bit of stress just before we reached our destination when the gages on the RV dashboard started acting up, showing we had no fuel or DEF (a required additive for all Diesel engines)! Richard tried disconnecting the batteries and then…

Nova Scotia, Canada – Part 2

Nova Scotia, Canada – Part 2

July 16-24, 2023 With our trip to Newfoundland behind us we left Cape Breton Island heading southwest towards Halifax. Since we planned to explore Halifax on our way out of Nova Scotia in a week or so we bypassed the city and swung south to the King Neptune Campground in Indian Harbor. Turns out we were just minutes away from Peggy’s Cove a place that many people we met along the way said we had to see but wasn’t even…

Newfoundland, Canada: Part Two of Two

Newfoundland, Canada: Part Two of Two

July 9-14, 2023 We drove into St. John’s, Newfoundland on Sunday with our Florida friends Bill & Beverly for a two night stay. It was just after noon when we arrived so we decided to go to The Rooms Museum for lunch in their 4th floor cafe. We had heard from several people that the views of the coast from there were stunning. Unfortunately….you guessed it…it was foggy and we couldn’t even see the water at all. Oh well, making…

Newfoundland, Canada: Part One of Two

Newfoundland, Canada: Part One of Two

July 4-8, 2023 We were so excited to to head over to Newfoundland (pronounced new-fin-LAND, rhymes with understand) with our Florida friends Bill & Beverly. We lined up for the 1:00 ferry along with a caravan of 26 RVs riding over together on a tour, plus many other cars, RVs and trucks. This was a huge ferry! Once parked on board we headed up to our reserved seats for the 7-hour trip but ended up spending most of the time…

Nova Scotia, Canada – Part 1

Nova Scotia, Canada – Part 1

June 28-July 3, 2023 Wednesday was a travel day as we made our way from Prince Edward Island to Havre Boucher, Nova Scotia. It was about a 6 hour drive. There is a ferry between PEI and Nova Scotia that cuts the travel time in half but it was not running due do mechanical issues with the boat so we took the long way around…not sure we would have taken the ferry anyway since driving the RV + truck on/off…

Prince Edward Island, Canada

Prince Edward Island, Canada

June 20-27, 2023 We drove from New Brunswick into Price Edward Island via the 8-mile long Confederation Bridge, the only way to drive to PEI. It is Canada’s longest bridge and the longest bridge in the world to cross ice-covered water. It’s free to go into PEI over the bridge but $50 per car to get out. It cost us $67  for the RV and truck! We spent 4 nights on the north shore of the island and then 4…

New Brunswick, Canada

New Brunswick, Canada

June 13-19, 2023 We left Hermon, Maine and traveled the short distance (about 2 hours) to the Canadian border station. Passing through uneventfully we made it to our first destination near Fredricton, New Brunswick, the River Run Resort & Grill. It’s a nice campground right on the river on the site of the old Kelly’s Sporting Lodge. They have some very cool domes that can be rented, each with its own hot tub on the deck. The camping sites are…

Exploring Ohio-May 21-24, 2023

I’m baaaaaaak! After a long break from blogging, time spent with friends and family in Tennessee, Hawaii, Florida and Maine, we are on the road again with some new adventures! Our first stop was to explore the area around Dayton, Ohio with our friends John and Ana. We met up with them in Springfield, Ohio and set up camp for our four-night stay. Our first outing was to the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, celebrating…

Last Week In Canada

Last Week In Canada

August 8-14, 2022 We woke up on Monday August 8th and kicked off our last week in Canada, with about 1,800 miles left to get to Hermon, Maine near Bangor. It was my birthday so we ate our special cinnamon rolls from the Whitehouse Bakery and set off for Kenora, Ontario. We camped at Anicinabe Park on a pretty lake and enjoyed our pull-in site. We had a fun zoom call with our friends Bill & Beverly that evening with…
